WELCOME Classic Boat Loans was established in 2011 by Mike Kernan of Wylie, TX. It started out as buying an occasional boat, refurbishing it, getting it ready to fish, and then selling. First was our Marine Dealer License, then our DMV trailer dealer license. After a couple years, we added financing on our boats and were licensed by the Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner by the State of Texas. Today, we focus on fishing boat loans in Texas for those older boats that banks do not want to finance. Some of these older boats are simply the best value on the market. There are not many avid fisherman that can afford the cost of a new rig, coming in at 70 to 90 thousand dollars! So we have established a niche in this older boat market. What we have also learned is that there were no good boat loan outlets for anglers that have taken a hit on their credit and are working to improve it. That is, unless you want to be placed in the secondary market where the rates START at 17.95%! After several years of making loans, we do not have a single loan with an interest rate that high! We do loans on any year model fishing boat starting in 2000 and newer. We have done some older boats and will consider them. But remember that major changes happened in the boating industry in the late 90s. The main factor is the use of all composite materials, removing the risk of rotten boards used to manufacture boats.
